The start of the 8 year old boys and girls. Jeremiah, has the green goggles on.
Jeremiah, waiting for the sound of the horn to start. The other kids took off after they heard ready, set...
Jeremiah, had the fastest transition time of 24 seconds. Most kids were around a minute and half. We practiced transitions last night and it definitely paid off. This was suppose to be a kids triathlon but the bike portion got cut because of the park roads were closed due to flood water damage.
Coming into the finish area.
Watching other kids coming in for the finish. Jeremiah, had a great time and is looking forward to next years race. His sister who watched the whole thing thought she would like to do it next year. My son on the other hand is waiting for a relay race so that he can run and not have to swim or bike.
Hand stands in the water for fun!
Jeremiah finished 17th out of 32 total boys and girls in the 7 to 10 year olds. Oh, and five girls beat him. Final results can be view here
I ended up running my scheduled 13 mile run today even though I'll be racing a sprint triathlon tomorrow. I felt it more important to run than to skip it because of the race. I was able to run it at a 6:44 per mile pace and finished it in 1:27:38.

He's already doing that good at age 8- he'll be winning races in his 20's. 13 miles the day before a tri- you are amazing!!
Wow....that's awesome! Isn't it great that we can expose our kids to a lifestyle of health and they enjoy it... LOVE IT!
Looks like he's following in Papa's footsteps. Does he run fast like you do? How did he feel about girls beating him? LOL
I hope you have an awesome race today. I'll check back later tonight. I have no doubt you'll smoke everyone on the run.
He's strong but lacks fast leg turnover speed. Maybe if he thins out as he grows he may get faster.
He didn't mind girls beating him. I think he respects the girls strength. I'll teach him to encourage the girls while racing, like I do.
I need some serious help, Papa.
I cannot run very fast and when you said,
"He's strong but lacks fast leg turnover speed."
you sound like a track coach.
My husband told me last night he can tell it's me running from hundreds of yards away because he says- I "shuffle". Wonderful! I love to look like a slow, shuffle runner.
My coach tells me I need to pick up my knees but I don't understand!
Got any ideas about my running form? Thanks!
i think it's so wonderful parents encourage their children to be involved in physical activity and self motivation.
way to go Jeremiah!
There is a kids tri in my city and i would liek to help out. Too bad I have a race taht day. Would love to see little kids in action.
Great job Jeremiah!! That is awesome, looks like he had a blast! I don't know about you, but I get more nervous when my little ones race than I do for my own races!!
So cute!!! Looks like he had a BLAST! He'll be just like his speedy Papa Louie!
How great is this?! Getting kids involved and loving the sport early - that's key! He is on the right track!
